This is Joy!

When I think about how much life I have already lived and wasted so much time not knowing that Joy was always with me. Now I wake up each morning knowing how much I am Joyful and especially grateful for my life. Driving home from lunch today the thought that this joy is mine and only I can give it away.

As a full time Accountant for a Real Estate Investment company for 22 years my left and right brain each get a 50% portion of activity during the work week. The weekends are 100% creativity driven. I am an artist, a creative full of joy!

When I brush paint on paper I’m giving my creation life and it is expresses my joy. Once a painting is done I show my husband, he is so sweet with his critiques. I enJoy painting on hot press water color paper. Cheaper and takes up less space in my home. Comment to get a list of my art supplies. Or comment with suggestions of art supplies you would like to share.

Even though my creations are for sale, for me it isn’t about the selling, but more about the passion that I have to create. I would venture to guess that is how it is for most creatives. Once the creative flow is turned on within you I believe that only death will turn my off.

My creative journey began with sewing in the 80s. I loved buying material, reading the pattern and making jamms for my sons, tops, pants, lined jackets and dresses. I had drawers full of material. I would come home from eat dinner, do the dishes and sit down at my sewing machine. Next came making jewelry. A good friend got me into watching QVC. Oh boy! I fell in love with Joan Rivers beaded necklace, I can do that! Next thing I know I’m shopping at bead stores at chance I could. I did home shows to sell my earrings, bracelets and necklaces. I guess I was always into photography. I had a 35mm camera with a few lenses. I bought my digital camera in the 90s and now have a Canon 35mm 5D Mark III. I purchased the first generation iPad and the Procreate app and began to draw and paint on it. Until I had a reading with a medium who told me to start painting on canvas. Best reading I ever had! Comment if you would like to know the Medium’s name.

I sell my jewelry, photography and paintings. www.raquelamaral.com I want to sew tops that I no longer wear into handbags, but who has the time! I also want to rip up jean jackets and add lace to them too. It really never stops, this creative flow.

This past Sunday I took a trip to Michaels to get 9×12 mattes for my watercolor paintings. I only ordered 4. I’ll need to take another trip back to Michaels to get the 11×14 frames for the 4 mattes. As of now I have a tiny space on the wall in Pat Viera’s art studio, located at 1924 Grant Street in Concord, CA where I hang my art. Every two months I change it out. She has art by other artists too in her studio.

This Saturday November 19th from 11am to 5pm there is a Arts and Crafts Pop up where I will have a small portion of only my crystal earrings on display for sale.

Do you have joy?
